Welcome Frank Chieppa, PGA, to The Legends of Indiana GC Staff
Ted Bishop, PGA Director of Golf at The Legends of Indiana Golf Club, is pleased to announce that Frank Chieppa, PGA, will replace Ryan Ford, PGA, as the new head golf professional at one of Indiana's premier facilities. Ford has taken the position of Director of Golf at Pleasant Run GC and Sarah Shank after a seven year stint at The Legends.
Chieppa hails from Algonquin, Illinois and is one of the most decorated golf professionals in the Illinois PGA. He currently serves as Vice President of the Illinois Section and was named Illinois PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 2004. Chieppa has also been a two-time Horton Smith Award winner for educational accomplishments. In addition, he won the Bill Strasbaugh Award for contributions to employment and club relations.
For the past 16 years, Chieppa has served the Dundee Township Park District as head golf professional at Randall Oaks Golf Club, the "Jewel of the Fox River Valley." In 2002 Golf Chicago Magazine named it as one of the "10 Best Buys" in Illinois. Along with its 18-hole championship course, Randall Oaks has a 3-hole Par three Acorn course that is geared toward the Junior Golfer and Entry level player.
Chieppa has spent over 25 years in the golf business. He has worked at several private facilities and brings a wealth of overall experience to The Legends of Indiana. Most notably, he designed, coordinated and assisted in the instruction of a junior golf program that grew from 100 to over 450 golfers annually between the ages of 5 and 17. With his supervision at the 3-Hole par three course, Chieppa utilized family golf initiatives, birthday parties and "Sunshine through Golf" sessions to create a huge growth in rounds.
"Frank Chieppa is one of the most dynamic golf professionals that I have ever met," said Ted Bishop. "He will bring energy and professionalism to The Legends that will make people want to be at our course- whether they are golfers or co-workers! I am really excited to have Frank as our golf professional and expect him to have a tremendously positive impact on everything we do at The Legends."
Michael Miller, Executive Director of the Illinois PGA, echoed Bishop's sentiments. "Frank Chieppa is definitely a big gain for The Legends and the Indiana PGA, and a huge loss to the Illinois PGA and Randall Oaks. He is one of the finest, detail oriented golf professionals that I have met. He raises everyone in his presence."
Chieppa will begin his duties at The Legends of Indiana GC on March 5. The Legends of Indiana will host the 2010 Indiana Men's and Women's Opens as well as the IHSAA Boys and Girls State Finals. The 45-hole Jim Fazio designed facility was named as "One of Indiana's Best 18 Courses" in 2009.
